当地时间9月23日，菲律宾总统小马科斯表达了对早期稻谷收成将有助于降低大米价格的乐观看法。
小马科斯还重申了他下令临时实施大米限价令的决定，因为主粮价格突然上涨。
他解释道：“我们的农民已经开始收割，当第一期的稻谷完成收割和研磨后，我认为大米价格就会下降。这将由市场力量决定，也许市场会进一步降低零售价格。”
八月份，菲律宾农业部预测水稻收成产量估计90万吨。
