菲国警发言人法哈多建议公众仔细检查钞票，因为假钞票通常在圣诞节期间流通。
法哈多在接受新闻采访时说：“菲国警提醒公众在市场和购物中心购物时要小心交易。这也是一年中许多海外菲律宾人带着汇款回国的时候。我们提醒公众在授权的货币兑换机构进行货币兑换交易。”
真钞具有压花防伪特征，与假钞相比通常更粗糙、更厚。
法哈多还表示，盗窃和抢劫以及诈骗等针对财产的犯罪通常会在圣诞节期间频发，建议公众尽可能早购买圣诞礼物和用品，以避免圣诞假期购物高峰。网购者在网上购物时也应该小心，只从信誉良好且有授权的网络卖家那里购物。
