菲律宾卫生部周五通报该国新增436例奥密克戎(Omicron)子变体病例，其中425例为BA.5病例，10例BA.4病例，1例BA.2病例。
菲律宾基因组中心表示，BA.5子变体的传播是该国过去几个月经历的感染浪潮的主要原因。
根据数据，此次测序中214例BA.5病例来自西未狮耶地区，而达沃地区为146例。
卫生当局表示，奥密克戎(Omicron)比以前的变种更容易传播，而那些接种过疫苗或以前感染过的人仍然可能因此而生病。
