菲律宾惩教局(BuCor)发言人查克拉格(GabrielChaclag)周一表示，新比利毕国家监狱(NewBilibidPrison)周日晚间发生严重骚乱，导致三名囚犯死亡，14人受伤。
查克拉格表示，骚乱始于下午6点左右，“当时一群囚犯正在开玩笑，突然间一支简易霰弹枪走火，随后引发了混乱，各个囚犯都采取自卫模式。”
狱警看到情况后立即前往事发区域，但花了将近一个小时才控制局势，七名囚犯因涉嫌煽动暴乱而被拘留。
当局从囚犯身上搜出简易武器，如各式刀棍、带刃武器等等。
