美菲联合军演当天，3名菲律宾渔民在黄岩岛附近撞船身亡
10月2日当天，菲律宾与美国在南海启动了一年一度、为期12天的联合海上军事演习，除了美国和菲律宾出动上千人的部队外，日本、加拿大、英国、法国和澳大利亚的海军也将参加此次演习。
而就在美菲开启联合军演的同一天，在黄岩岛附近却发生了一起意外。
一艘菲律宾渔船同一艘外国商船相撞后沉没，导致三名渔民死亡。
菲律宾海岸警卫队在一份声明中说，事故导致渔船上的三名菲律宾籍船员丧命，另外11人被救起。当局表示，目前不清楚涉案的商船来自哪个国家。
