据柬媒消息，在国家警察总署副总监兼金边市警察局长尊那林指示下，12月13日下午，金边市警察局交警与协警合作，在各主要街道驻守疏导交通，让市民安全出行。
根据柬埔寨法律规定，协警无权拦截车辆或对违规车辆进行罚款。协警的主要职责是维护交通秩序，处理交通事故等。
金边市政府和市警察局根据副首相兼内政部长苏速卡和国家警察总署总监苏通商定的原则，为协警重新设计制服，以避免公众误会。
